On September 19, the Huawei
Connect Conference 2022 kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand. At the meeting, HUAWEI
CLOUD CEO Zhang Ping'an announced that Indonesia and Ireland will be launched
in the near future. In addition, HUAWEI CLOUD's more than 15 innovative
services in cloud native, AI development and other fields will also be launched
globally for the first time.
The Huawei Connect Conference has
always been the "year-end report" of its To B business. It is worth
mentioning that this is the first time that Huawei has chosen its venue
overseas. Most of the guests attending the conference are from countries in the
Asia-Pacific region.
This may be a signal that Huawei is
accelerating its expansion into overseas markets.
Hu Houkun, the rotating chairman of
Huawei, said in his speech that the global digital infrastructure still needs
to be strengthened. For countries and enterprises that have just started
digital transformation, the infrastructure for connection and computing is
still relatively weak, and countries and enterprises that have undergone
digital transformation earlier and faster have higher requirements for
connection and computing. This may be an opportunity for Huawei.
Huawei has already established a
presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2018, HUAWEI CLOUD has successively
built local nodes in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other places. This year,
it will deploy access points in the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Japan and
South Korea. By the end of this year, HUAWEI CLOUD will deploy 29 regions and
75 availability zones around the world, covering more than 170 countries and
regions.
Zeng Xingyun, President of HUAWEI
CLOUD Asia Pacific, said that HUAWEI CLOUD has become the fastest growing cloud
among the top 5 cloud service providers in Asia Pacific, ranking 2nd in the
Chinese market, 3rd in Thailand, and 4th in emerging Asia-Pacific markets.
According to data disclosed by
Huawei, in 2021, HUAWEI CLOUD's key customers in Asia Pacific will increase by
156%, the number of ecological partners will increase by 90%, and partner
revenue will increase by 150%, which is higher than the revenue of HUAWEI CLOUD
itself. Currently, HUAWEI CLOUD's customers in Asia Pacific include CT Crop, an
Indonesian enterprise group , SCB Bank of Thailand, and Sarawak Energy
Corporation of Malaysia.
Huawei's annual report shows that in
2021, Huawei's revenue in the Asia-Pacific region will be 53.67 billion yuan,
accounting for 8.4% of total revenue, second only to China and Europe, Central
Africa (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
Accelerating overseas expansion is
almost a common practice of domestic leading cloud manufacturers. In addition
to Huawei, Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud have also successively deployed
nodes around the world.
In the past, Internet companies
supported a huge cloud service market, but with the slowdown in the growth of
the domestic Internet industry, there is a high cost of learning when
traditional industries migrate to the cloud. Southeast Asia has become the
preferred destination for cloud manufacturers to attack overseas due to factors
such as geographical proximity to China, more convenient layout, and closer
user behavior to China.
"From the first day of
definition, the goal of HUAWEI CLOUD is to be one of the 'five clouds' in the
world, and to be a global cloud is our very clear strategic positioning from
beginning to end." At this year's Huawei Global Analyst Conference, Shi
Jilin, President of HUAWEI CLOUD Global Marketing and Sales Services, said
this.
