Sina Technology
News Beijing time on the evening of September 19th, according to reports, the
mayor of the German city of Gruenheide Arne Christiani (Arne Christiani) said
today that Tesla’s plans to expand its factory near Berlin have not changed.
Currently still under construction.
Christiani
said last week that the vote on "Tesla's factory expansion plan" has
been postponed indefinitely.
Glenhead
City Council will not discuss the expansion plan at its meeting this month, and
it is unknown whether it will be back on the agenda later this year.
Subsequently,
some media quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Tesla has
suspended plans to produce batteries in Germany (ie, a factory expansion
project) and is considering moving the battery manufacturing production line
back to the United States to obtain US electric vehicle and battery
manufacturing tax credits Qualifications.
Today,
Christiani refutes that claim. Christiani confirmed to the media that Tesla has
made it clear that the plant expansion project has not changed and is still
under construction.
Cristiani
also said the vote on the expansion project was not on the agenda because Tesla
applied for an extension in May. The matter is currently being discussed with
relevant community representatives. Once these discussions are complete, the
plan will be put on the agenda.
In
May of this year, Tesla filed an application with the municipality of Glenheide
to expand the area of its German Gigafactory by one-third, that is, to build
another 100 hectares of factory area east of the factory for battery
production.
Tesla
announced back in November 2019 that it planned to build a new factory in
Brandenburg, Germany, to cater to the rapidly growing demand for electric
vehicles in Europe. Later, Musk said that the German factory plans to add a
battery production facility. The facility will initially have an annual
installed capacity of more than 100 gigawatt hours and will eventually reach
250 gigawatt hours.
